About the role

Forestride helps businesses find their highest-value revenue opportunities and act on them automatically. Behind every opportunity on a customer's dashboard is our backend: it receives events from websites and servers, syncs data from tools like HubSpot, Stripe and Shopify, scores signals and runs automated journeys across email, chat and messaging channels.

As a Senior Backend Engineer you'll own big parts of that platform end to end. You'll work directly with the founders, ship to production every week and have a real say in how the product and the codebase grow.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build and maintain core services in Python and Django - our signal engine, opportunity scoring and journey engine
  • Build and harden integrations with CRMs, billing and e-commerce platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce, Stripe, Shopify and more)
  • Make event ingestion fast and reliable as customer volumes grow
  • Work on email, chat and messaging delivery, including Amazon SES and the Meta platforms
  • Write clear, well-tested code and review your teammates' pull requests
  • Help keep customer data secure, from encryption of credentials to access controls
  • Turn product ideas into simple technical plans together with product and design

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of professional backend development experience
  • Strong Python skills and production experience with Django
  • Solid knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) and query performance
  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs, webhooks and OAuth integrations
  • Comfortable running services on AWS or a similar cloud, using Docker
  • You write things down: clear pull requests, docs and async updates
  • Able to work at least 4 hours a day overlapping with UK time

Nice to have

  • Experience with event-driven or data-heavy SaaS products
  • Worked with LLM APIs (OpenAI or similar) in production
  • Background in marketing automation, CRM or customer data platforms
  • Early-stage startup experience

What we offer

  • Flexible, remote-first working
  • Competitive salary and equity options
  • Learning budget for courses, books and conferences
  • Health and wellbeing support
  • Home-office setup budget
  • Generous paid time off
